Park and Recreation Offers Fun and Safe Events For Halloween and Autumn

The Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department offers a wide
variety of events and activities for Halloween and autumn. Events are
offered for all members of the family and are sure to make for a scary
good time. Events include:
• Sunset Family Hayride, McDowell Nature Center, Wed. Oct. 20, 6
p.m.-7:30 p.m., all ages, $5, children 5-under FREE. Bring the family
to enjoy a fun hayride through McDowell Nature Preserve. Course Code

• Nature at Night Fest, McDowell Nature Center, Fri. Oct. 22, 6:30
p.m.-8:30 p.m., all ages, FREE. Peer at the moon through a telescope,
roast marshmallows and go on a hayride. Course Code 16316
• Full Moon Hike, Latta Plantation Nature Center, Fri. Oct. 22, 7
p.m.-9 p.m., ages 7-up, $4. Experience the magic of hiking in the

10:30 a.m., all ages, $10. Carve a pumpkin to take home and put on

• Ray's Haunted Tour and Halloween Carnival, Ray's Splash Planet,
Fri. Oct. 29, 6:30 p.m.-9 p.m., all ages, $2 carnival in gym, $3
haunted tour. Join us for the spook-tacular haunted tour through the
facility and the carnival in the gym. Come for games, contests and of
