Realtors(r) Care Day Announces Green Initiative

The second-annual Realtors® Care Day, an all-day, home-repair
initiative sponsored by the Charlotte Regional Realtor® Association's
Housing Opportunity Foundation on April 23, will pave the road toward
a brighter future for 30 deserving homeowners as it literally paves
the road for drivers in Union County.

Boggs Paving, Inc., a contractor headquartered in Monroe, N.C., is
supporting the project and its 650 area Realtor®volunteers by
utilizing a recycling method that will be implemented for the first
time in North Carolina. The process – post-consumer reclaimed asphalt
shingles (PRAS) – removes nails and debris from discarded shingles
before grinding them into particles that are blended back into
asphalt. The result is a recycled "green" product for paving and
resurfacing roads; one that limits the use of virgin petroleum and
aggregates processed from the earth, reducing both consumer expense
and the use of environmentally costly landfill space.

Boggs Paving and other companies across the state have been recycling
scrap from asphalt-shingle manufacturers (pre-consumer) for years, but
this marks the first time a company has received a permit from the
N.C. Department of Energy and Natural Resources (NCDENR) to undertake
the post-consumer "ROOFS to ROADS" process at the asphalt-
manufacturing facility. Plans call for Boggs to retrieve and recycle
shingles from eight homes that have roof repair or replacement needs.
The reclaimed shingles from Realtors® Care Day homes will be used in
late summer 2010 to resurface several roads in Union and Anson counties.

"We are honored to play a small role in helping area Realtors® improve
housing conditions for those who need a helping hand to ensure a safer
environment," says Drew Boggs, president of Boggs Paving. "This
opportunity allows us to serve our neighbors while spotlighting an
emerging green technology that will preserve our natural resources."

Joe Rempson, 2010 Realtors® Care Day co-chair, says, "We are extremely
grateful for Boggs' support, which will eliminate thousands of dollars
in dumping fees but, more important, will provide the means to
conserve through recycling. This fulfills a goal we set for ourselves
last year – to enhance our community-wide project by incorporating
sustainable, environmentally sensitive elements.

About Realtors® Care Day - April 23, 2010
Realtors® Care Day was initiated by the Housing Opportunity Foundation
in 2009 as an extension of its commitment to affordable, fair and safe
housing, and to provide an opportunity for Realtors® to give back to
the communities in which they live. This year's event is held during
National Fair Housing Month and National Volunteer Week.

Armed with paint, toolboxes, building supplies and a spirit of
volunteerism, some 650 Realtors® will help 30 homeowners across
Mecklenburg and Iredell counties with necessary but often unaffordable
exterior home repairs and/or adaptive safety modifications for the
elderly and disabled.

Last year's inaugural event had a community-wide impact of more than
$200,000 and the Realtors® Care Day committee is poised to build upon
this success. In recognition of this initiative, last month the
National Association of Realtors® and the U.S. Conference of Mayors
designated Charlotte as an Ambassador City, which includes a $5,000
grant in support of the project.

Seven regional housing nonprofits are collaborating with the committee
leaders to identify eligible homeowners, including City of Charlotte's
Neighborhood and Business Services Department, Habitat for Humanity of
Charlotte, Habitat for Humanity of Iredell County, Habitat for
Humanity of Matthews, Our Towns Habitat for Humanity, Love INC and the
Davidson Housing Coalition – HAMMERS Program. For more information on
