Charlotte Rental Property Ordinance Public Hearing Advisory

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE FOR THE
RENTAL PROPERTY ORDINANCE PROPOSAL

WHAT: The City of Charlotte is conducting a public hearing on the
proposed Rental Property Ordinance. The purpose of the hearing is to
hear from citizens and stakeholders on any outstanding concerns in
advance of the decision to be made by City Council to adopt the
ordinance to amend Chapter 6 of the Charlotte City Code entitled
"Businesses and Trades."

WHO: Citizens and stakeholders with outstanding concerns related to
the Rental Property Ordinance Proposal will have the opportunity to
speak before Charlotte City Council.

WHEN: 7 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2009

WHERE: Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, Meeting Chamber
600 E. Fourth Street

MORE INFORMATION:
The Rental Property Ordinance will require registration of those
rental properties that fall within the top 4% of a Disorder Risk
Threshold among all rental properties. This activity will be measured
on a weighted scale with violent crime rated the highest, followed by
property crime and citizen initiated disorder calls for service.
Owners of those properties meeting the 4% threshold will pay a
registration fee based on the number of units in the property.

City Council will vote on the ordinance at the Monday, November 9
meeting.
